The cornerstones of my teaching philosophy are in almost direct parallel to those of my own scholarship which stress empathy and curiosity in diverse communities, a strong foundation of collaboration with colleagues and partners, and a need to tackle challenges with creative problem-solving.

Whenever possible I make connections with my students to my own scholarship. For some projects it is sharing the photographic or editing process, such as in the work for Dopesick, and in others, like the “Whose Streets? Our Streets!” project, which is built in several deliverables (website, editing, film, interviews, book and physical gallery exhibition) I have actually involved some students in parts of the projects, collaborating with interviews, hanging and organizing the gallery and sharing techniques used in the website development.

This page contains digital examples of each of my scholarship projects, linked both below from titles and images or by using the menu at left.
